Strongway is a well known manufacturer of lifting and automotive repair tools that makes high quality tools. They are also producing various engine stands and this is their 1 ton (2000 lb) stand. This is a durable and stable stand that will hold large engine blocks with capacity up to 1 ton (2000 lb). The tool comes dismounted with clear assembly instructions which many other companies fail to include with their products.

Strongway 2000 lb engine stand is made from a high grade steel and all parts of the stand are held together with strong steel screws. Steel tubes of the stand are pretty thick and will ensure that the stand is stable even when holding a large load. On the sides of the upright mast there are two support plates to add more to the durability of the stand. The quality of the stand can be seen just by looking at the paint job and welding spots, especially when compared to much cheaper engine stands. Everything looks smooth and high quality, which creates credibility that the tool can stand very high loads. One unique aspect of the stand that we haven’t seen on many other engine stands is a tool tray installed on the top part of the mast, where you can store any tools or parts during a repair of the stand. This is really convenient and we have seen many car mechanics welding custom made tool trays to other engine stands. This is such a small but useful addition to the tool that shows what experience the Strongway brand has in automotive repair tools industry.

One drawback of the tool is that it cannot be folded, so if you have a limited amount of space in your workplace, the tool will need to be dismounted for storage, which can take a longer time.

Mounting plate and arms

Strongway engine stand features a rotating mounting head and a mounting plate with 4 adjustable mounting arms, similar concept we can see on other Strongway engine stands or engine stands from other companies. The mounting arms of the stand can be adjusted to fit most engine blocks. The head of the stand can be rotated 360 degrees around and locked into position with a locking pin that can be inserted into top of the stand. This allows to position the engine in a convenient angle to perform repairs to the block. At the back of the head there is a metal handle with a rubber end to rotate the engine block.

Legs and wheels

The engine stand features a stable 2 leg design. Engine stands with 2 legs are much more stable and can hold higher loads than stands with a single leg. Below the stand there are 4 swivel casters. All casters can be rotated 360 degrees to increase movability of the stand. Another interesting feature of this engine stand are the stabilizing feet under the stand, which can help to hold the stand into a static positions while installing an engine block to the stand. This is very convenient and allows to mount an engine to the stand much quicker. There no longer is a need to place bricks or other objects behind the casters so the stand does not start to move back and forward while mounting an engine block to it.

Size and weight

The size of Strongway engine stand is 36x27x34 inches (91.5×68.6×86.4 cm) and the weight of the tool is 94 lb (43 kg). Manufacturer Strongway provides a 1 year limited warranty for the stand.

  • High grade and quality durable steel construction that will hold up to 1 ton (2000 lb) heavy engines with no problems
  • 2 leg design with 4 swivel casters provide stability of the stand and allows to move it freely even when holding a load
  • 4 stabilizing feet makes the stand even more stable allowing for quicker and safer mounting of an engine block
  • Tool tray is a useful addition, where you can store tools or parts while repairing an engine
  • A good price for such a durable and stable stand with few very useful features

  • Non foldable design, will need to dismount the tool for storage if you have a limited space in the workplace
  • Although technically not a disadvantage, an engine rotation gearbox would be a great advantage for the engine stand
